These are the modern replacements for historic distemper used on internal walls. They are much more durable and more opaque [solid colour] than these old paints. Environmental Emulsion is as strong and as easy to use as conventional emulsion, but has less embodied energy and no unpleasant solvents. They can be applied by brush, roller or sprayed.
Environmental Emulsion is a tough product and is washable after about 14 days. An example of just how tough came when we had a spillage of paint on the busy road outside the shop. It took the traffic three months to remove it. You could say we have ‘road tested’ our paint - quite literally!
Environmental Emulsion is made in the UK, reducing the amount of ‘paint miles’ involved and keeping our prices free from currency variances. This means that Earth and Reed’s emulsion prices are very competitive and not expensive as many assume.
After soaking Earth and Reed’s mineral pigments in warm water, you can mix them into an emulsion to create your own colours. In this case, beige is being made from our pigment called Mocha.
